Kyoo 23

Yes, I know, I'm a sucker for Josh Groban. However, me and Hasina have vowed to be the next reason he thanks people for doing interpretive dances to his music. Actually, I should try to serenade him with my mad horn skills and convince him that I need to be his personal horn player and go on tour with him. Yeah, that's what I've got to do.

Oh, and I love the smell of fresh-cut grass. That is, when I'm not the one doing the cutting. Summer's coming!

Have a great day :)

Kyoo 22

Since pictures are worth a thousand words...

Harold and Mr. Frog all buckled in for a long trip home. Actually, we made it. They're waiting to get out and George is standing there anticipating the release. She got the honors.

Part of the pile of laundry in the back of Babar for my short trip home. The trunk was full too. It was seven loads in all.

Finally, a picture of the roses from my "Secret Stripling Warrior" for Valentine's day. They smelled even better than they look.

I love how the temple spires frame the mountains in this shot. This was taken from the gardens on top of the conference center after the afternoon session of conference. The weather was perfect at the time and it was so relaxing to just stand up there and watch the city. The fact that finals began the next day was far from my mind.

Calvin and Hobbes, reunited and spending an evening together. They're best buds. And yes, it's totally coincidence that they're in the corner. They're not in trouble.

This my new desk. I didn't get a desk this semester so I had to purchase one at DI. His name is Botticelli. He will soon be a work of art as Hasina has plans to release her creative urges on him. I requested a ninja turtles theme.

My new picnic basket set. It came complete with settings for four, the classic checkered blanket, napkins, napkin rings, a pizza cutter, a cork screw (for my bottled beverages), and the basket! I love it. Now if only I could find a good date to take on a picnic. Any takers?

This is José. He's our lamp. Yes, he's missing a toe but other than that he's in great condition. It kind of reminded me of the leg lamp in "A Christmas Story". Except, everyone in our apartment loves him so I don't think he'll mysteriously fall off the T.V. I might be wrong though, they are blasting down the street....

So there. Now, this blog is visually stimulating, as well as mentally, emotionally, and (quick, do 10 jumping jacks) even physically.

Just a few more thoughts...

Today, Miss Swan introduced me to a bird in the Benson that makes cat calls. I want a bird like that. It's quite flattering. I also got to explore the jungle and the dessert via the greenhouses. I like that place.

Special K and Snickers, I miss both of you. I'm craving a "smoothie night" and need my "smoothie" buddies back. Along with everything else we did. Fond memories.

Have a great day :)

I will eventually get the DI pictures up.

Right now, I'm sitting in the programming lab facing the wall of windows and getting very distracted. The view is amazing as it looks up the hill towards most of campus and the temple sitting on top. What makes it most intriguing are the scattered, fluffy white clouds that are blowing over. Moving quite rapidly, they make me feel like I am viewing a grand transition of time. It's like a giant afghan made of light gray yarn is making a stunning exit across the sky while debuting to the country northward. It's far more enlightening than my databases lab right now.

For some reason, I thought it was important for me to join the Linux society this semester. I've wanted to for a while but was always busy during the meetings on Thursday. Not this semester. So, not only did I join, I also, spur-of-the-moment, decided to run for the vice president/webmaster position. And I was elected. Why do I keep myself so busy?

This will be a good thing though. I need to get familiar with Linux because Novell is one of the huge companies that heavily recruits on campus here and the starting wage increases quite a bit for those with Linux experience. I have so much to learn!

It keeps me busy.

Heh. One of the clouds looks like Babar.

My cell phone charger is en route to me from home but it isn't here yet. My phone is dead. Life without a cell phone is sad. I can't call my mom to give her random updates whenever I see something funny!

Ah! This post is dragging on but I have a classes update. Due to professors not being overly anxious to add students (or, more like anally refusing) I can't take my military class! I'm way sad because it was basically just a class to learn military tactics and then run around in army fatigues wielding paintball guns. And then there was the rappelling, and white water rafting, and water survival, and ................... the list goes on.

Maybe next semester. For the time being, I will be honing my social skills in Family 200: Dating, courtships, and engagement. Too bad there's only 3 guys in the class.

Have a great day :)

Kyoo 20

I just have to give a shout-out to Special K and Snickers because when I came home from classes today one of my roommates, we'll call her Chef C, was watching Sabrina!

A moment to reflect.....

.........

reflection over.

It brought back good memories.

I'll have to post pictures of my most recent DI purchases. We hit the jackpot tonight and I really must share. Yes, I have more crap.

If only I could work out my classes. And yes again, one of them does involve weapons and the whole military shebang. I also easily convinced Hasina to join me for the class.

Sadly, our ward has merged with another ward and our FHE groups have been dispelled for the time being. I knew it was too good to be true. I'm rather disappointed. Really disappointed.

But, I have the sweetest picnic basket so I have an excuse to go on a picnic date. I'm looking forward to that. Maybe I'll get to milk a cow..................

Right now I'm lying on my comfortable bed listening to the rain fall on the sidewalk outside. It's quite soothing and it's almost making me forget about all of my troubles.

Almost.

Have a great day :)

Kyoo 19

I have no sense of time when I'm driving. Some hours pass by in what seems like minutes yet some minutes pass by in what seems like hours. Oh, and there's a grand total of two radio stations through the majority of Wyoming: national public radio and wyoming public radio. The news on either of them is enough to make anyone want to ram their vehicle of choice into the back of a semi. I opted for the static on 93.1 FM. My iPod died right as I entered Wyoming. It was a sad moment.

Just as expected, the weather in Nebraska brightens up the day I leave. Sunny and warm. Blast. At least it's nice here. Idaho must like me more.

*** Paragraph has been removed because of possible security leaks ***

My roommate is pretty sweet. I'll refer to her as Hasina. Actually, all of my roommates are way cool this semester. I'm excited. Now, Special K and Snickers, they aren't cooler than you. The apartment would be perfect if I could add both of you. But, they fill some gaps and I think it's going to be a good semester.

Well, classes start tomorrow and I still need to finish registering.

Have a great day :)

Kyoo 18

Alas, I have become a failure at blogging. But no more. I will soon be back in school and looking for ways to procrast.....er, share musings with my favorite people.

Nebraska was mean this past week. It was cold and cloudy and rainy and windy. I brought my bike and roller blades all the way home with me but was not able to use them because the weather was less than ideal. I just don't enjoy biking or roller blading in the wind. Yes, call me a pansy.

However, I was able to get a few miles under my feet. I ran with the track team on Monday and Friday, took Shadrick out on Tuesday, and went on my long run on Thursday. That puts me at about 30 miles this week. I still have a ways to go before I'm ready for the marathon because I'm hitting a wall of sorts around 10-11 miles and struggling after that. I'll get it done though. The marathon is mine.

I was mauled by children. It felt good. Part of me felt bad for telling them that they wouldn't get to see me at the pool all summer and that they'd have someone else teaching them swimming lessons but the most part of me was joyous. I don't have to spend another summer wasting away at the pool! Hallelujah!

This past week was very good. I got to see Cornmeal, and the Bonos, and La Cabeza De Roja (comment if you know who you are - I forgot your real spanish name), and tons of others. Plus, I got to see a very cute baby girl, stay up late and chill with my siblings, play with Shadrick, SLEEP!, teach a lesson, get my haircut, fix up Babar, walk with mi madre, laugh, read the newspaper, and complain about the weather and how it was so much warmer in Idaho. Oh yeah, and I got to go to school and have a party with the first graders. That was sweet.

A milestone was also reached. For the first time in my college career, I was able to take my laundry home. All seven loads. And I got them done in one day. It was beautiful! My trunk and backseat were just piled with dirty laundry. I didn't fold it or try to put it in anything. I just threw it in the back of my car and left. It really was awesome. I wish I could do that more often. Normally I have to have everything clean and packed away nice in luggage for a plane trip. Not this time though!

It was hard to say good bye this morning but the following eased the pain on me and those that love me:
  • I waved goodbye to George as she rode her bike to school and caused her to turn her head and run into a parked car in the street. It was quite the crash and I'm such a horrible sister but I sill laugh as it plays back in my mind. It was cinema-perfect, seriously. And yes, I waited until after I knew she was okay to laugh, barely.
  • I knew my dad would have a hard time so I tried to leave his garage and the house a little messy so he wouldn't be too sad. I know, I'm a very considerate daughter.
  • I shared my icecream cone with Shadrick. It's so hard to leave my puppy. I've decided that I don't need to get married, I just need a really cool dog. I'm kind of partial to the Rhodesian Ridgeback right now. I need a dog that can run with me.
That's probably enough for now. I need to get sleep so I can get all moved into my apartment and set for another crazy semester tomorrow.

Have a great day :)

Kyoo 17

Have you ever ridden a really big rollercoaster? I have. I just rode one this past week in my life:

--> The wait as you strap yourself in, hear the coaster come to life, and wait for that sudden transition from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds...

My weekend was spent absorbing the sun, sights, and sounds of Salt Lake City on conference weekend. It was relaxing and fun. Steffer and I bought shoes, danced in a sidewalk fountain, flirted with eligible young men, ran to the fence, and contemplated life. I also gazed at the building where I hope to complete my internship. More on this in future posts.

--> The transition from 0 to 60...

Monday morning. Ouch.

--> The first uphill climb...

It would definitely have to be the 26 hours I spent in the lab over two days finishing my personal site and adding search and other dynamic capabilities to my demonstration site. But, I didn't get escorted out of the lab (see Kyoo 16)! Oh, and that also meant that I couldn't spend time with Snickers and Special K.

--> The first downhill...

Finishing my web development final. The solution (or lack thereof) to a portion of the final had occupied my dreams for three nights straight. To celebrate this achievement, I ran around the lab in my sports bra waving my shirt over the top of my head. What? Soccer players do it. I felt quite victorious.

--> The second uphill...

Finals, finals, finals. And white glove. The oven is a pain to scrub and I think I lost a heavy portion of brain cells.

--> The second downhill...

Actually, I'm bored now and want to do something else. I'm on break and home, what the heck am I doing on the computer?

Bye!
