Woohooo!

I finally finished the notorious IS 320 Lab 6! I'm not kidding when I say that the rumors and talk of this lab almost made me change my major. It's over a month of mental strain and anguish. If you don't believe me, take this direct quote from my professor:

"...not even people in the industry know how to do this. This is advanced stuff."

This man is an absolute genius. The leaders in the industry call him up when they have a problem they can't figure out. He's great to learn from but man is it a stretch.

I'm done!

I feel like I've just crossed the finish line after a 5 week triathlon - mentally speaking. It feels good. This is why I love my major. Why I know I like IS.

Anywho, the basis of this post was just to say that I did my little happy dance around the lab to a couple Ace of Base songs. Thought y'all would like to imagine that.

And of course my shirt was on ;)

Have a great day :)

This weekend was nothing short of, in the words of Sam*, pristine.

Snickers and Special K came down and it was just like old times. There was a tiki torch, pineapple pinata filled with animal cookies and Swedish Fish, ukulele music, our cake invention from last semester, drinks of all kinds and colors, movies, vintage bicycles, the boys riding said vintage bicycles, driving around Rexburg, and an awkward Olive Garden experience. I loved every minute of it.

If only we could convince Special K to come back in the fall..........

There might be movement on the dating front. Just to whet your appetite for more later!

I am the proud new owner of a computer tower. Woohoo! I know you're all about to jump out of your seats with excitement. It is exciting though. I just have to acquire a few more parts and then I can have fun over the break dissecting and building a computer. I've got lots to learn.

I acquired this tower through a rather impulsive action. I was running to class with Calvin in one hand and happened to see the abandoned metal structure whilst breezing by. I basically threw my empty hand out and swiped it into motion with me. I'm pretty proud of it. It's in great condition.

I'm still not a computer nerd but I'm getting closer. My goal is to change the stereotype though. The computer world has yet to be graced by the presence of kyooyoo. Watch out all you basement game dwellers..........there's a new standard.

Ha. I'm really not that prideful. Honestly.

Have a great day :)

My Stats teacher brought up the OJ Simpson trial from many a year ago during class the other day. She was using it as an introductory tool to null hypotheses and comparing the judicial system's "Innocent until proven guilty" to the concept of null and alternate hypotheses and how to reject or fail to reject them.

*cough* Anyway......

It reminded me that I once punched a girl over that trial. I think it was the only time I purposely punched someone in my life. I caught her pretty hard too, right in the stomach. Almost instantly I felt this wave of pure dread wash over me and ran home hoping that this girl would forget. Ha.

Would you forget if someone had knocked your lunch out? She didn't. That was a very awkward doorstep scene 2 minutes later when her momma showed up. Our house wasn't big enough to hide. I don't remember what happened afterwards (I was probably grounded from my flourishing social life and required to complete many menial tasks) but I do remember that as a third-grader (give or take) having only watched a 10-second news snippet, I KNEW OJ Simpson was guilty and that this girl had to be convinced.

So, I had a poor lapse in judgment. But it shows that I'm passionate and ready to do anything to get the job done, right? Reminiscing is one way to study for Stats. I'll never forget to reject or fail to reject.

On a lighter note, work was too fun this morning. A 30-minute meeting turning into a 90-minute meeting, mainly filled with stories and laughter. I got very little done but I felt rejuvenated. Oh, and if you ever need to know how to walk "sexily" (direct quote) I know who to hook you up with. Her courses include how to walk sexily in heels, tennis shoes, barefoot, as well as a few other mediums.

Thought I'd throw that option out there. I'm a pro now........

I'll have to tell y'all about my weekly cheese escapades next time.

Have a great day :)

Somebody pinch me.

It's a great day! I got a call during class from someone I didn't recognize at first but do now. It's good. Very good. And now I have plans for June 29th-30th. More may or may not come.

Hasina and I went mountain biking on Friday at Weber Creek and it was perfect. I don't want to sound like some hormonally-driven teenager but I will admit that most occasions are improved by the presence of good-looking young men. This was no exception. There were six of them and it made for a very nice evening. The trail was absolutely gorgeous, if not a little too rocky at times, but I will definitely go back in the fall to find the cabin further along the trail.

In the air is the smell of maple syrup, Turkish Delight, Mr. Christie's cookies, and poutine. It's............Canada, if Miss Swan can forgive me for stereotyping. I'm going to Canada! And hopefully my family will finalize their travel plans so I can continue my exploration of this continent with them after Canada.

Also contributing to the overall positiveness of this day is the fact that Snickers and Special K will be here on Friday to birthday par-tay! I can't say too much because I want to surprise Snickers but I'm smelling pineapple, tropical drinks, and ukulele music. Can't wait till you're here! Oh, and you'll be surprised when you see the pad known as Birch......just to tantalize your curiosity.

Have a great day :)

"It hurts up to a point, and then it doesn't get any worse."

- Ann Trason

This is a favorite quote of mine. It will now play through my head on my training runs. I used to think of the Navy Seal type quote "Pain is weakness leaving the body" but Trason's works well too. I like running.

I have much to post soon. I ran in a marathon last Saturday and had a fantastic time. Needless to say I am hooked and have decided that for the rest of my life, I will plan my vacations around marathons. That 50-state marathon club is calling my name......

Don't let this scare you. I'm still a kind, sensitive, empathetic human being.

Ha.

Have a great day :)

This is the note that was waiting for me after I got home from the 50-Lap Spirit Week relay. I'm sure you can imagine my reaction - it was war! I can't sleep without Harold!

My FHE brother WATCHED the 50-Lap relay from the stands instead of participating and then thought it would be funny to kidnap my fish. Hahaha, FOILED!

Little did he know that we have something in common: traitors. We both have traitors in our apartments. So, after a brief insurgent attack involving me, Babar, quite a few other close friends, and before mentioned accomplice in his apartment, Harold is safely back with me, in my bed.

But my traitor roommate is another story. She claimed to love Harold at one time. How could she so easily turn her back on him and leave him in the hands of such an unstable group of boys? I have a hard time trusting people who so easily turn their backs on helpless stuffed fish. It's a good thing Harold is emotionally strong.

Anyways, here's my happy fish:

Other happy news. I find the excitement that comes with each of my love-interests exciting. It makes life so much more unpredictable. Like how I'll act when I accidentally run into them. I savor it!

I love running in the rain. And on the railroad tracks.

There was a guy who ran all 50 laps of the relay by himself. I want to marry someone like that....THAT is dedication and gut. I like that. Hasina told me that she would give me $200 if I ran up and gave him a kiss after he finished. I honestly wanted to but I couldn't. I just gave him a high five and talked to him for a few seconds. He's quite attractive. It was fun.

I think that's it. I need to go to bed.

Have a great day :)

A list of significant things I've done in the past few days:

  • I went Geocaching for the first time. It was pretty swell and I got a little green army man in the process. Nerds and their toys (shakes head).
  • I slid down the entire railing at the stadium. That's a lot of stairs and a LOT of momentum. The best part was interrupting the moment for some 5 couples as I wildly flew past with a little less than a roar.
  • I resisted the urge to eat a cookie. Yes, twas an amazing feat.
  • I listened to yet another person tell me about their fabulous trip to Europe. Someday, that will be me. Until then, I'll have to stave off that desire by watching Samantha Brown and her "Passport to Europe". I don't like being on the sidelines.
  • Trail running! Woohooo! I got lost and ran over lots of big rocks. And caught some amazing views.
  • Saw a snake skin. Still having nightmares.
  • Took a most refreshing nap.
  • Sweated profusely after trying to run 4 miles in the middle of the day. Not recommended. And I was late for class.
Sometime I should post in wingdings. And see how many people catch on and actually bother to decode it (which should be a simple matter of copy and paste). Oh, this site is up now. This has been my life at work since January. I'm still working out bugs though.

It smells like rain outside and that makes me happy.

I'm also happy that Snickers and Special K are going to be here in less than 2 weeks!

Have a great day :)

I've finally gotten settled into this semester. It's a good thing too considering I'm 7 weeks into a 14 week semester. I can't remember it ever taking this long but it is summer. It is going to be soooooooooo hard to be here in the winter now. How did I ever survive?

The marathon is in a week. I'm feeling very sore and tired and have turned to biking instead of running. So, the marathon has turned into a marathon relay. I got a group of 5 girls together and we'll be running different legs and competing in the relay division (obviously). It should be pretty swell. We're going in costume and everything. There will be updates on that later. But you should cheer for The Polly Peptides. Think endorphins.

Just an update, I'm over this crush. I never see him anymore. It's okay though because I'm in the process of developing a new focus. I see this one much more often. And we'll leave it at that.....

I've always wanted to compete in the Olympics. I just need to find a realistic sport and become one of the best in the world. Or, become a legal resident of a really small country and go to represent them. Any ideas?

Have a great day :)
