I don't like it when a semester ends because it means that I have to face real life again. School allows me to get encapsulated in my own little bubble. I'm independent, focused, challenged, and happy. I don't do well when I'm on break.

Leisure time scares me.

There's a lot of responsibility wrapped-up with it.

I can't explain. It's all about being efficient and not wanting to waste time and making sure that I'm doing everything that I want to be doing.

School makes those decisions easy; I just study.

Who knew a vacation was such a complicated thing? And it hasn't even yet begun.

I'm going to enjoy my finals for another 17.5 hours.

Have a great day :)

Since I've taken two weeks off, I'll post twice. I thought this was funny:

"The best long distance runners eat raw meat, run naked, and sleep in snow."

-Alaska Airlines advertisement honoring the Iditarod dogs

Take it as you will. Oh, and I would like to point out that this week is National Nude Recreation Week. I was going to post links to explain this but then I got to thinking, hmmm, that probably wouldn't be a good thing to type into a search engine. You'll just have to trust me on this one. Just something to think about......

Have another great day :)

I got a blister yesterday. And it's a pretty cool story.

See, I was perched on the edge of death. Literally. My grandma had me climb up her tree with a little two inch saw to hack all these old branches down. So, I crawled out on this limb that's about 10-12 feet above the ground and cut all the branches off. Then I realized that several of the branches that I had relied on for support to climb out on the limb where now reduced to a new fate, scattered on the ground.

I almost peed my pants. Then I collected myself, pretended I was in a pretty leotard, and did my best tight-rope impression back to the tree's trunk. It was stellar.

Oh, the blister. It was a two-inch blade, do you really need a description? I was sawing like some Looney Tunes character. I just hate the way your skin feels when a blister first forms. Thinking about it is giving me the shivers.

Just to brag, there's a picture of me and Calvin in BYU-Idaho's web publicity file. Here I am:

Some may wonder how I can tell this is me and to them I say two things: I know Calvin when I see him and it's obviously me because of the mole I sport on my right hand. And again, that's Calvin.

Oh, I thought I would point out that my blog got a google search hit the other day. Someone looking for "Christmas in July". I feel silently pleased.

Speaking of Christmas in July, I have been listening to Christmas music religiously but semester's end has had me quite busy. The 12 days of Christmas in July started on Friday. I saw an ad for Christmas in July in the paper today. It's definitely approaching. I'll have more time to think about it after this week.

I head for Canada on Friday! And then it's off to Colorado with the fam. And then back to Idaho. Maybe I'll get a few weeks in Nebraska. I'm ready for a break. Only 5 finals and then I'm free for a few weeks!

Have a great day :)

Merry Christmas in July!

In honor of Christmas in July, I will be playing my Christmas music and trying to capture the "Spirit of Christmas" in the middle of the year! I love Christmas and get so happy every time I hear Christmas music playing. Like right now.

So, today, ya'll should listen to "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by the artist of your choice. I'm positive it'll perk you right up. Unless you're Special K and don't like Christmas music ;)

Yesterday was swell. I got to spend almost the entire day with my Sidekick running, playing ducky on the river, and listening to Joshie while staring in amazement at the HUGE moon. The ducky trip was probably the funnest because we paddled until our arms started wigging out. That and we got to swim, soak up the sun, and sing to our heart's content.

And I saw two cows and had an intelligent conversation with them. I couldn't milk them though because they didn't have udders. Apparently that's essential. One day though, I will get to milk a cow.

And, in honor of Miss Swan, Happy Canada Day!

Now Playing for Christmas in July: "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"

Have a great day :)
