It's all in the name of beauty.....

Actually, it's more in the name of experience and story-time.

So, recently, I decided that I would try waxing my legs. Oh, this is not for the faint of heart by the way. This decision required a week and a half of preparation. The preparation? Getting the hair long enough. It drove me crazy! I'm already OCD about my legs and to have to grow the hair out to 1/4 of an inch about killed me. The real kicker was when I went swimming this morning and felt a noticeable drag from my legs. I kicked the can after that and called the hair long enough.

This leads to the actual experience. The consensus? Don't try this at home! It was painful, irritating, and missed a lot. Maybe I was doing it wrong but I think I'm a fan of shaving. Quick, relatively painless, and it does the job right. None of this every-other-hair stuff. Now I can officially say that I have waxed my legs. And I will probably never do it again.

I know you all can rest easy knowing that. What to hear something else?

I went tanning for the first time today too.

I told myself that I would never tan but I broke down for a few reasons:

  1. It's cold. Tanning is warm.
  2. There is a lot of cloud cover here and very little sun. I need sun. Tanning is like the sun.
  3. I'm going to Central America in a few months and don't want to scar anyone's retinas. Two words: pasty white.
This in mind, I purchased a tanning package and began my adventure. I was actually kind of scared this morning because I didn't know what to expect. But, Snickers filled me in on the need-to-know specifics. Still, it was an interesting experience.

The tanning room was decked-out in this tropical theme and instantly made me happy. I got ready, slicked on the SPF 50 sunblock (safety fist), popped in my Boston cd (that sold me right there - the fact that the bed had a CD player in it!), and familiarized myself with the instructions. After searching for longer than I care to admit I found the "start" button and lied down to bask in the fake sun. It was warm, and light, and relaxing, and gave me time to think. Tanning time is great meditation time.

And the best part was that I didn't burn! I'm looking forward to next time.

Tanning = good. Waxing = bad.

It was a productive day. I also went to class and work. Don't think I primped the whole day.

And, I'm sure you're dying to hear about my trip to Vegas this weekend that officially kicked off my birthday celebration. Well, you'll have to wait.

Have a great day :)

Because people have been asking, I'll post my birthday wish list here so it's readily available for interested parties. So, y'all can take a hint and go splurge on a nice lil' somethin' somethin' for me for my birthday. Ha.

And if you can't tell that I'm being facetious, stop reading my blog or you might take something I say the wrong way. Like that.

Kyooyoo's Wishin' List 2008
  • Nebraska car sticker
  • Travel towel
  • Spanish hymn book
  • Compact travel pillow (not the U-shaped kind, the folding/pack kind)
  • Packable sleeping bag
  • iTunes gift card
  • Mom - those candy almonds you made over Christmas were excellent!
  • Money's always good
  • Nylons that don't snag - yeah right
  • Shower crayons
And that should do it. These are just ideas. If there are questions, you know how to reach me. Sorry for the boring post. It has been an exciting weekend though. Our water got shut off for a while. And I had a couple dates.

A big thank you to Maholly for letting a poor, stinky girl shower on Sunday morning!

Have a great day :)

I shot a .44 Magnum yesterday. I didn't enjoy it. First, it has a super light trigger. Second, it "kicks like a mule". Third, the bullets are thicker than most of my fingers. And quite long. It is not a friendly weapon. I was actually afraid that I shot a hole in the roof of the shelter because my hands flew up after I fired my first shot. I was not expecting that kind of kick. Call me a pansy but I could only knock out 5 rounds with that thing.

The .22 on the other hand is nice. I don't think I could ever really get into shooting unless I got into biathlon. Though I have a long ways to go cause I can barely hit the target standing at 50 yards. It sure was nice to spend time with my dad though. I like shooting with him.

Nebraska always does this to me. Right before I leave it gives me beautiful weather. Today was gorgeous! At least in the evening. There wasn't even a breeze and it was quite warm. I took Chadrick out on a walk in the country and watched the sun send a spectacle over the plains as it bid adieu to another day. So peaceful and reflecting. And I was with my dog. I love my dog. I'm going to miss that big black pup.

She loves me too. I can see it in her eyes.

Have a great day :)

Typhoid shot.

If anyone googles this and hits my blog, let it be known that it hurts like a couch potato running for the first time in seven years - on their arms. Not a vivid enough description? How about Satan attaching himself to your arm and wrecking sadistic havoc. Ouch.

Seriously, I can't even lift my arm right now. And I normally have a high tolerance for pain. I'm doing this without Tylenol though. Ouch. Typing even hurts.

I'm telling myself that MesoAmerica is worth it. And it will be. But my mother insisted on ALL of the recommended shots. This isn't even a requirement. Ouch.

And I'll stop whining now.

This post was supposed to have pictures but I seem to have misplaced my sister's camera. So, now this post is a placeholder post because I want Kyoo 75 to be my birthday list post. If you check back later, there will be a colorful picture of my brother's new pet and the "habitat" he created for said creature.

Trust me folks, this isn't one you want to miss out on.

Have a great day :)
