I have wanted to post about this for a while. I am getting on my soapbox and proceeding like so:

Kyooyoo's Lockeroom Etiquette

  1. First and foremost! When there are 20 showers and only one of them is in use, you use one of the 16 showers that are not adjoining the one in use! Preferably, you get as far away from the shower in use as possible. On no condition do you use the shower right next to the one already in use, especially if the shower-user has clothing and/or towels draped over the side into that shower. Pick another shower! Personal space demands respect.
  2. If there is a person who has obviously just stepped out of the pool (i.e. soaking wet, wrapped in a towel, and shivering uncontrollably) and is waiting patiently to request their locker key from the basket room attendees (which takes all of 2 seconds) you do not step in front of them in your warm, dry clothes to take care of your own business! Especially if they were there before you.
  3. If you are an older lady or have wrinkled flesh of any kind. Heck, lets not put stipulations on this, everyone should follow this advice. If you are clothing yourself after showering and have the confidence to bare all in front of total strangers (who are all relatively clothed) then you should dress yourself as quickly as possible covering ALL the essentials first and foremost. On no condition would you stand there and lather lotion on your body for 5 minutes, partially pack your bag, text a few friends on your phone, but your bra and shirt on, and then, 15 minutes after exposing yourself, decided to put your underwear on! Especially if there are people 2 feet away from you trying with all there might not to accidentally glance in the wrong direction.
  4. Last but not least, be an adult! Kids in elementary school hide behind their hands while whispering to their peers and giggling. It just looks bad in a locker room. Unless you're trying to pull off that 10-year-old allure. I'm impressed. Oh, and this especially shouldn't be done in the direction of someone noticeably bigger and stronger than you.
Point in motion is: Lets all be respectors of persons in the locker room.

Have a great day :)

Snickers thinks that I don't want to be around here anymore. That's not true. There's a lot I like about Rexburg:

I love Broulims. I can find everything I need in that grocery store and I still love the paintings and the fake chicken coop. And their Craigos pizza section. And all the cheeses. And the samples. And the thunderstorms in the produce aisle. And the memories I've made there like seeing Santa Clause and trying an Idaho Spud bar for the first time.

I also love the Menan Buttes. Just a quick 15 minute drive or just under an hour-long bike ride and I can enjoy a great trail run, fantastic views, and time to think. And Caribou. There's a Caribou farm nearby.

Not to mention the hundreds of hikes that are in the area. And bridge-jumping.

Then there's the duck pond. Enough said.

The people here are great too. Very friendly and enjoyable to talk to. I have lots of "friends" just from running in the Hart field house. The elderly people walking there have so much to share!

I do want to be here. I need to settle down and not get too excited for the future. The grass is not greener on the other side. And I know that my problems will not be solved upon graduation. There will be more problems.

But, is it too much to ask for above-freezing weather?

Maybe soon?

And I still want to do Hawaii's International Business program. Blasted 90-credit transfer rule. Everything would have worked marvelously!

So, Snickers, I like it here. And we're going to keep on having fun for semesters to come.

Have a great day :)

It is a very good thing that I got out of Rexburg and away for the weekend. I feel as though going year-round has worn me thin and I am very ready to spend a summer not going to school. I need a break from the people, culture, and life of Rexburg. Not that it's bad there. I really do enjoy it but I am taking it for granted and developing a bad attitude. I just need to get away and experience something different for a while.

I do have a bad feeling that I won't want to come back though. I'm looking into possibilities on how to achieve this.

In the mean time, I will be snowmobiling, sleeping, taking in nature, sleeping, skiing, sleeping, partying with my G-Ma, sleeping, and otherwise enjoying this President's Day weekend.

Have a great day :)

(Imagine this in my most beautiful, vibrant voice)

Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday dear daddy.
Happy birthday to you.

And many more......

Your little punkin just wants you to know how much she loves you and is glad you're her dad!

Don't work too hard. If I were there I would sweep your "man-space", have the house spotless, throw a few steaks on the grill, put the remotes back in their place, and disconnect the phone lines for a while.

But I'm snowed-in in Idaho.

Enjoy the card!

And to everyone else.........

Have a great day :)

I was thinking about sharing some thoughts I was having about my "love life" but I decided against it. I've given up saying anything about men I'm interested in because it creates too much hype and makes it even harder when nothing happens.

So, life is good.

I was in Wal-Mart last night with Snickers and Travesty and fun was to be had. I've never seen Travesty act so crazy. Between the huge pile of snow that fell out of his coat to leaving his (snow)pants in the toy section, he was just a riot. Plus, he even stopped and did Tony Chestnut with me in Hardware.

And, just as a gauge, it's still snowing. I think I mentioned that it was snowing in my last post. Well, it hasn't stopped since then. They're starting to move it out by the truckload. I've never seen so much snow in my life.

The Rexburg Temple is about to be dedicated. I'm looking at it right now from the lab. It's so beautiful. Just this beacon of white in the night sky that is visible for miles and miles. The inside is no less spectacular. I can't wait to go there. It reminds me of the important things in this life and eternity. It also gives me the opportunity to remember and serve those that have come before.

I spent a lot of time thinking of President Gordon B. Hinckley this weekend. He was such an inspiring man to watch and listen to. He died on my birthday this year but it didn't really hit me until yesterday as I was watching his funeral. I loved him and will miss him. But, it is a happy time as well. I know that he is with his wife again and that he left a remarkable legacy and example for all to follow. I know he was a prophet of God and I have seen the blessings in my life that came from following his counsel.

My most vivid memory of him came when I was attending General Conference this past year. I was sitting in a congregation of some 21,000 people. There was a dull roar of chatter as one would expect with that kind of audience. However, it was amazing how quickly that hushed and the feeling that washed over the place as President Hinckley walked in, waving his cane, and all stood in respect. He was just a dot to me from where I was sitting but I could feel his love and warmth. It's something I will never forget.

In short, his funeral was a beautiful celebration of his life and there's nothing I would have rather been doing yesterday than paying my last respects to such a wonderful man. The chance to go skydiving or run a marathon would not have pulled me away from that broadcast.

I look forward to sustaining the next prophet and learning from him for years to come.

And that is that.

Have a great day :)

I had a Free Willy experience on campus today.

Hahaha, don't think about that statement too much.....

Anywho, I don't think it's stopped blizzarding since I flew into Salt Lake. Point being, snow has accumulated. A lot. And this snow accumulation has produced some sizable drifts.

I was fighting my way through the wind to the MC in the evening and a flash of headlights caught my eye. There was a Jeep attempting to drive up a snow drift in the construction area. This was a huge, steep, and very compacted drift. Snickers was with me and she noticed that if the Jeep made it up the drift, it would crash right into us. I disagreed. I thought it would soar over us to freedom - just like Free Willy.

So I held my hand up and shouted "Free Willy!" for all to hear.

That was shortly after I ate an apple that had been in my backpack for longer than I care to admit.

It may or may not have tasted a little fermented.

Have a great day :)
