It might have been a pants morning.
The minute I turned out of my condo complex and started pedaling uphill into the wind, I realized I had made a big mistake when I had slipped just my shorts on.
But did I turn around to add pants to my ensemble?
Pshaw, no.
My bike commute is only 1.5 miles. Nothing I couldn't endure (not that previous excursions have taught me that...). But I sure had some beat red legs by the time I pulled up, huffing and puffing, to the guard station at work. And you know what?? Those security guards have no sense of humor! There were two of them standing there all bundled up in their black coats with the reflective stripes and they just stared at me like dried glue as I rode up and chuckled, "It might have been a pants morning...a little colder out here than I expected".
No response! Just life. Less.
I thought I was so funny! (It was before 7am though...so that's relative). I had these grand, unselfish illusions of making their morning and being that friendly, ridiculous girl who didn't wear pants that they could laugh at/with. But instead. I felt so dumb. And not just for not wearing pants.
You know who else made me feel dumb?
Alisha.
I was all proud of myself the other day because I wore a padded bra (big step up from a sports bra, don't judge) and then she shows up to work wearing a scarf. A scarf! Like a fancy accessory scarf. I can't compete with that. Especially when I cover up that padded bra with a baggy old polo (that might have been a bit wrinkled...) and still think it's some kind of a feminine triumphant.
Does kyoo need new clothes? Yes. This whole "let's train for and run a 50k" has downsized more than the "ladies". None of my clothes fit. Not even my jeans after being pulled out of a high-heat cycle on the dryer (and I used to have to do lunges to get them all broken back in after being dried...).
Less effective.
But clothes shopping makes my brain hurt.
Unless it's new running shoes. No hurting brain there! Added a third pair to my arsenal today:
They're for trail running! (Boris says hi...Moose...top right). Best part was that with a groupon and clearance price, I only paid 30 bucks for them. Normally $95. Super lucky find! They had one pair left and it happened to be muh size.
Do you know what else is better than clothes shopping?
Cici's Pizza Buffet. Oh my. Good pizza. Cheap. Great customer service (the managers are always so friendly and accommodating...seriously). And they have TVs with Cartoon Network playing. It's one of my favs! Bear took me out tonight (after I told him I was super hungry and craving Cici's...) and he did a really good job of not judging me as I scarfed down piece after piece (leaving the crusts behind in true "health-conscious" pizza buffet fashion).
He's so great.
Do you know what else is great?
When you hit the snooze button and wake up 9 minutes after you were intending to and then get to work exactly 9 minutes late.
Not.
I don't know whether to scold myself for being lazy or commend myself for my original time forecasting skills.
I guess I'll just call it a draw and enjoy the extra sleep.
Have a great day :-)
