But the Gregman surprised me last week with some date plans of his own: frisbee golf at McClain Park in between conference sessions.
Needless to say, I was "down". A date I didn't have to plan? Score!
My goal for this date was to relax and NOT be competitive. Keep the date enjoyable, you know? Unlike last weekend when we played Phase 10 whilst dining at Goomba's. I tried so hard, I really did, to forget how hungry I was and be a good sport but it became increasingly difficult with each phase as I got stuck with the worst cards and the Gregdude cheerfully laid his perfect sets and runs down on the first play. It eventually set me off on my grumps mood. Strangely that moment coincided with the hand wherein the Gregdealer dealt himself 4 wilds. 4! It was just too much.
But anyways, I lost all semblance of a competitive drive (and pride, too) right from hole one. It probably had something to do with my violently errant first throw that ended with me sending the Gregrescue and a couple random strangers off into the tall brush in search of my disc. (they weren't afraid of snakes).
So it was a pretty enjoyable day.
And let us not forget, "Hello summer!". I recognize the beginning of your searingly hot and sticky days every year. End of March, huh? Bit early, but welcome back.
(this is the look i got every time i accidentally threw my disc in the brush...so pretty much every hole. basket? net? whatever they call it.)
(that would be my disc. in the water. go me.)
(the wildflowers almost disguise those massive power lines.)
(we'll say hole 4 was our favorite...i can't really remember why i took a picture of it.)
Ah! Pardon the butt-shot, but we came to a "river-crossing". This was my approach...and that's all the further I got. (i have a warranted fear of log bridges)
Then the Gregheight took over and I guess you could say his approach was more effective. At least we made it across dry.
So, we have a new rule: "Never order Kyoo a route 44 anything. Because she can put it down. And she doesn't NEED TO put it down. But she will. Because it's there and it's oh so refreshing and cool."
The date ended with some bike cleat assemblage and more test riding of the new Gregbike. Pretty fun stuff here.
And that's that. If you're looking for a fun date idea: frisbee golf at McClain Park. It's a great course, well-shaded, and filled with all sorts of adventurous twists and turns. We had a blast rescuing frisbees from bubbling bogs and combing thru dense fields of wild flowers...seriously. So many funny stories.
This guy should plan dates more often :-P
Have a great day :-)
