But it sure makes for some fun canoeing...
^^ "DUCK! *SPLASH* duckduckduckduckduckduck..." ^^
We kind of just let him jump out now, swim until he's tired, and then hold onto him until we can paddle ashore and let him back in. It's really entertaining.
Towards the end of the trip, we even perfected hoisting him back in, mid-lake, without tipping the canoe. It was triumphant.
^^ "oh i see, you want me in the canoe." ^^
^^ "hey guys, paddle faster...they're beating us to the ducks!" ^^
^^ "ha ha ha! bow to me ducks! i rule all!" ^^
^^ "don't you like staring at my haunches?" ^^
^^ just keep swimming ^^
^^ what do we do? ^^
^^ we swim, swim, swim ^^
The one really fun part of the day (aside from discovering that doggie-doo bags do NOTHING to mask poo stench!) was when Roscoe pulled the canoe "ashore". If you can call being stuck in the foliage of an overgrown tree, with spider webs and who knows what else dangling around ashore. It was mostly just fun for everyone observing, especially Greg and his front-row seat safely in the back of the canoe.
Roscoe just piddle-paddled me into the tree-abyss and I got to eat all the spider webs and dodge branches and fret over bugs and snakes while trying to pull my dog back in the canoe and out of the mud pit he was stuck in.
Meanwhile dork dog was loving his life.
Then we ate food from trailers. Specifically "Hey!...You Gonna Eat Or What?" (greg got the smoked ham & brie) and "Fat Cactus" (you got the pecker with the red sauce). I'm documenting that so I can look it up the next time we're hungry and driving around Austin...they were so delicious I feel like I don't even need to try any other food trucks.
Soooooo....anyone else wish every Monday was a paid-time-off holiday? I wish that and a relocation of Zilker Park to San Antonio. I love that park.
Have a great day :-)
