Yoo 225 - Pasha Friday

Psst! There's this happy place here called "Pasha". Allow me to introduce you!

It's a Mediterranean Grill of a restaurant just a hop-skip-jump from the place of employment and quite the Kyoo lunch preference on a Friday.

I originally discovered it on a date with my Greggest of men way back in the day.  But the Katiefriend and I have since turned it into a Friday almost tradition of our own. Almost because it's more an every-other-when-we-both-can-make-it type thing. And most especially when the Kyoo is carb-loading for a Saturday run.

Because, though carb-loading on naan bread isn't the healthiest or most effective approach, it sure is tasty!

And the Pasha naan bread is moist and warm and chewy and really everything that should be good and lovely about naan bread.

My fav is dipping it in a bit of olive oil and then smothering it in this delicious excuse of a spice called za'atar (nicknamed "that Pasha spice" because I can't pronounce it and, I'm original like that). Life got a little zestier when we met, though.

Love.

Apparently there are recipes for it somewhere in the wide expanses of the Internet and I've decided I need to give one a try because I think it's time this za'atar was incorporated into other foody parts of my life.

Also, there's this waiter dude there that's really especially good at keeping our table stocked with fresh naan bread and he's a little like what I imagine Michael Phelps would be like in the person. Physique-wise. Except his face isn't as awkward.

But, since an Olympian of a waiter and naan bread alone won't sustain a Mediterranean food joint, they also offer this power couple:

Traditional gyro wrap with a side of hummus. Ok, we request the hummus as a side instead of their poor excuse for a salad and really, that's the way to go. Minus the olive oil being poured all over it. But they seem to be believers in the whole "have it yo way" (slogan modified to protect myself from any potential major chain restaurant copyright infringement...stuff...?) philosophy so they're both easy requests.

And the power couple does not disappoint. The hummus is a major complement to the naan bread (when smothered in za'atar, of course) and the gyro is center stage with just the right amount of crispy lamb and just the right amount of tangy tzatziki (and again, smothered in za'atar).

The Katiefriend doesn't share my love affair with the za'atar (more for me, muahaha!) but we both agree Pasha makes for a savory Friday lee-unch.

Hungry yet?

Me too.

Now if only Pasha knew how amazing I was at selling their restaurant and wanted to compensate me for it...we'll take free Friday lunches, thank you!

Have a great day :-)
