Yoo 249 - Thoughts before the Bandera 50k

First, the Greghooky came to lunch with me at work the other day.  (ok, maybe not hooky).  (he had the day off and I didn't).  (shoot).

Cue blurry photo as proof:

He brought his niece Tejas too.  I sure do love giving tours of USAA to friends and family seeing the "Home Office" for the first time!  It makes the world's Top 35 Largest Buildings by Floor Space list (according to wikipedia...valid source, right?) and is just kind of fun to flaunt.  Plus I got to show them my desk and tell them all about what I do.

Tejas thought it sounded boring.

Ouch!  Data warehousing is so cool!!

Neither of them thought the pool tables were boring though.  Or the nap rooms.  Or the fitness centers.  Or the Wii systems in our break rooms.

The nine-to-five has its perks.

Also, the Bandera 50k is tomorrow! As is Greg's brother's wedding. Here's a peak into the Kyoo mind:
  • "Can I pull off wearing down booties to a wedding reception?"
  • "This was really great planning Kyoo!"
  • "The weather forecast looks beautiful. Sunny and in the high 60s!"
  • "Do snakes like weather in the 60s?"
  • "I sure hope I don't get super bloated and gain almost 10 pounds for a week like I did after my last 50k. That was sure an unpleasant side effect..."
  • "Oh! I have Strawberry Stinger energy gels that Santa brought me to use! It's like a party for my taste buds and jet fuel for my muscles every 45 minutes!  (usually gels just supply the jet fuel part...the taste bud party is an added bonus)."
  • "I need more races on my calendar.  It's getting sparse after March."
  • "The pre-race email mentions hills a lot. Awesome."
  • "The Katieflu is sick...so I'm going this one alone and without my photographer.  Blech."
  • "There are scores more people registered for this race...dang it Kyoo stop trying to be competitive!"
  • "I hope there's plenty of time for runners to space out before it goes down to single track.  That'll be a fun cattle drive if not..."
  • "Maybe this one will have gummy bears too!"
Wish me luck!  I'm feeling strong and rested right now.  Here's to hopping I don't wake up with the flu!

Have a great day :-)
