Yoo 447 - NZ...Hamilton

After Tauranga, we made a slight detour down to Hamilton on our way back north. There were stops at Hobbiton, but neither of us wanted to pay $150 for the tour...call us cheap...and Mclaren Falls to play around on the rocks and a long stop at the temple in Hamilton and then icecream and police and a really pretty sunset.

Minus falling victim to a speed trap, it was a great day on the road.

^^ playing velociraptor

^^ this doesn't look like much, but it was a natural springs right off the road and the water was, getting serious, some of the best i've ever tasted. there was a long line of travelers and truckers waiting to fill up their bottles.

^^ a most-flattering sheep picture :-)

^^ bumblebee!

^^ playing with the visitor center reflections, kind of a church nerd picture...

^^ this place is known for their scoop-stacking abilities

^^ they will sell you a 12-scoop cone, should you ever need one

^^ i handled this really well. (sarcasm)

The technicals: we drove 105 kilometers down the 29 and 1 from Tauranga to Hamilton. After a lengthy stop, we climbed back in the car for another 352 kilometers on the 1 way way up to Paihia in the Northland.

Have a great day :-)

That last shot of the sun over the mountains is breathtaking.

The hills were so shadowy, it was almost as if there was a thin layer of clouds sinking into them, coupled with the vibrant orange and yellows of the sunset...it was pretty awesome. That picture sends me to a happy place.
