This was me, sitting in the Wal-Mart card aisle on Friday night, REMEMBERING that your birthday was in four days.
My original plan was to make you a card. Mucho cheaper and more personal. But there I was in the card aisle and one tickled my fancy and now, if the mail gods are on my side, you'll actually get a card from your favorite oldest daughter ON your birthday.
Whoop!
I don't have any grandchildren to announce, but wouldn't that have been cool? Like, happy birthday mom, you're going to be a grandma! Or would that send the wrong message?
Flashback time!
Remember...
...when we did a paper route together? And had to get up waaaaaaaaay early and run all over the neighborhood wearing the dorky bags and deliver to that one really creepy apartment complex?
...A my name is Alice and my boyfriend's name is Andy...
...that one time we were in the car waiting for dad and you pretended you were shaving your legs with his electric razor just as he was walking out?
...CoCo Wheats with icecream...for breakfast?
...
...all those district speech meets and Hive Girl?
...when you charged me $2 to drive me to school every time I missed the bus?
...how you're a super great listener and stayed on the phone with me during most of my college walks to class and any time I've been stuck in traffic?
...4 years of early-morning seminary, just you and me? I still remember the lesson involving Starburst.
...how excited we got when you were baking a treat to take to someone and then messed up so we got to eat it instead?
...walks in the country?
You are my favorite mom and I miss you and hope you have a happy birthday! To many more years of happy memories!!
Have a great day :-)
