Yoo 469 - A Campout And A Birthday, Respectively

^^ we've learned to put greg in the back so his head doesn't look as huge...

Hello, and welcome to my original post detailing "what I did this weekend". Expectations are low, we can begin.

I will mention, there's a slight plot enhancement because it was Sir Gregalot's birthday. Well, yesterday was but you know how those things get carried on and on. So what I did this weekend/birthday shenanigans. Respectively.

 ^^ we're stupid, i know, that didn't work

First, we went camping. I remembered to bring everything except the lighter fluid which really complicated my Dutch oven plans for dinner. Also my Dutch oven plans for cobbler the next day. There weren't any Boy scouts camping around us, so basically we were demoted to caveman status (minus the part where we were in possession of matches) and took an extra 2 hours just to get the charcoals hot. Not one to put on the resume.

The weather was gorgeous during the day and we hung out by the river all afternoon while we were waiting for the family to arrive. Then I found a tick and suddenly the scenery wasn't as pretty.

Now let's talk about the night.

It. Was. Freezing.

I'm a cold-pansy and it never "officially" dipped below 32 degrees, but it was close. In the thirties. We had this brilliant plan to zip our bags together so I could utilize my Gregheater, but that plan backfired. My furnace was all cuddly and warm for the first two minutes of the night, then he fell asleep and rolled over into a ball on the very opposite side of our double-wide cocoon. This was bad for two reasons:

1)  His heat was centralized in his little ball, and not emanating towards me.

2) There are risks when curling up next to anyone's backside at night. People tend to be gas furnaces, if you know what I mean...

I will also mention the ginormous draft hole created when combining sleeping bags.

Because of all this, I spent the mostest parts of the night in a half-conscious state, fixating on how I needed to steal a blanket from one of the kids. I never woke up enough to accomplish that, but I stole a blanket more than once in my dreams.

But don't let all those negatives fool you. It was a truly fun camp out and we had a blast with the family. Anything bad that happens whilst camping is just a funny memory for later.

^^ alisha...we finally remembered our cactus cooler!

^^ can pants get any higher, you ask?

^^ why did the roadrunner cross the road?

^^ i have no idea, but there he goes...

Then we crashed hard Saturday night, and we need not detail that because only the exciting parts of life make the blog (sarcasm) and also, the Gregman made me watch a movie starting with "Snow White" and ending with "The Huntsman" which I mostly slept thru and still wish I could unlive.

Moving on to Monday, aka "The Gregirthday". It's kind of a combination of Greg and birthday and yet it can sound like Earth day, and wouldn't you know? That's exactly what Monday was.

Right. So Greg spent his day at work. All the way to 9 o'clock plus 18 minutes at night. Kind of the pits. We were both really bummed to miss the big party for him and his dad at his house, complete with Star Wars decorations.

Instead he got a homemade chocolate cake, from his wife (that's me), and also some leftover Panera sandwiches that the same wife heisted from work. Special! And potato chips, those are a rare occurrence in this house.

The night wasn't super horrible after 9:18 until I almost ripped my middle fingernail off whilst doing dishes. I still don't know how it happened but it did and it hurt.

So there was screaming and overreacting and grab-your-finger dancing and "finish the dishes they're stupid and I'm done!"

Though, it had to be at least mildly entertaining later when he cracked open our bedroom door to find me sprawled across the bed with my middle finger dramatically propped up on pillows. This is the same middle finger that I probably broke jumping off the Wright Brothers Memorial and I reserve the right to coddle it for the rest of my life.

Have a great day :-)

I was thinking how pretty it was in that first picture with the water and the tree until I saw the word tick underneath and went "nope!"
