Yoo 204 - Malt-O-Meal

I came home today feeling just a bit rushed before band rehearsal, a bit tired from a day at work, and a lot hungry from...well, I'm hungry all the time.

Opened the cupboard and what jumped out at me?

Not the "ready instantly" (after 20 minutes of boiling and stirring) pasta.

Not the cans of (no bread or crackers to carry it to my mouth) tuna.

And definitely not the (these are actually your roommate's) bags of sugary cereal.

Ok, maybe that last one did.  Just a littleLot.

But then, tucked behind the oatmeal and syrup and a few cans of blackberry pie filling (there was a sale...you know you would have stocked up on blackberry pie filling too), the corner of a familiar box caught my attention.

Oh the staple of college years past!  How happy I was!

And so, 3 minutes later, I sat down to a big, delicious bowl of mush.

Topped with craisins and honey.  Perfect fuel for my evening run, wouldn't you say?

And don't worry mom, I had a heaping side of (frozen...sheepish grin) vegetables to balance out my food pyramid.

So if the malt-o-meal doesn't make me gaseous, that broccoli probably will.  Gonna be a rootin'-tootin' ole' run!
In other exciting food news, my dad and I took a trip down memory lane over bags of corn nuts today.  From 900 miles away.  His were BBQ.  I picked ranch.  We used to be buddies me and him.  We'd hop on our bikes and ride the winding bike trails in Lincoln up to his engineering lab on campus where he'd spend copious amounts of time studying and I'd spend copious amounts of time being his lab assistant.  I'd put on a white lab coat (and sometimes goggles!).  Fill big barrels with water (up to 120!).  Weigh filters (make sure the scale starts at 0!).  And stare in awe when he opened the big, hot oven (1,000 degrees F!).  And then, when the copious amounts of time were drawing to a close, we'd hop back on our bikes for the pedal home.  But not before stopping at a gas station for corn nuts (don't tell mom!).

So we ate corn nuts together today.  Like back in the "good ol' days".

And, in slightly less exciting and not entirely food-related news, I had a stimulating Sunday night.

I did some cleaning up of some puppy pee.

Warshed a pile of dishes.  (Naturally putting the dish soap in the water as the sink was filling up.  It's practically play time with that many bubbles!)

Confession.  That ox might have been in the mire before Sunday...

Decided I love wearing my hair on top of my head...because it looks so ridiculous!  (Props out to Alisha, of course).

Stared at this friendly face.

And built a fort on ze bed for the nightly phone scripture study sesh with my favorite boy.  We're in Alma.
Quite the adventures, huh??

Have a great day :-)

Soooo... I love the picture of your hair on top of your head more than I can even express in words :)
