Yoo 621 - SA Highland Games

We went to the San Antonio Highland Games back in April...mostly because they allow dogs in. It wasn't anything spectacular but we had a fun afternoon. The sheep dog demonstrations were our favorite, followed closely by the actual games. Haggis was consumed. I tried to imagine what Greg would look like in a kilt. And highland dancing! My friend Elizabeth took my to a Highland dancing class once upon a time so I watched that with some appreciation. Totally recognized the sword dance and felt cool. Also, live bag pipes.

Pups was a handful around the sheep dogs. He wanted to be IN on the action. He kept giving us the PLEASE LET ME OFF THIS LEASH NOW look and whining. Nothing could distract his attention from the sheep. We watched that in doses to give him time to calm down and not have a heart attack.

As we watched the different games, we laughed about how quickly we could get into each event. Like when you're watching the Olympics and some obscure sport comes on but then, after listening to the announcers for two minutes, you're suddenly an EXPERT on the judging and rules. "Oh, tsk tsk, his feet came apart...that's a two point deduction."  It was just like that and we cheered wholeheartedly thru Weight Over the Bar and Sheaf Toss and others.

Didn't get to see much of the caber toss but that's one event I'd like to try!

Have a great day :-)
