Nebraska was mean this past week. It was cold and cloudy and rainy and windy. I brought my bike and roller blades all the way home with me but was not able to use them because the weather was less than ideal. I just don't enjoy biking or roller blading in the wind. Yes, call me a pansy.
However, I was able to get a few miles under my feet. I ran with the track team on Monday and Friday, took Shadrick out on Tuesday, and went on my long run on Thursday. That puts me at about 30 miles this week. I still have a ways to go before I'm ready for the marathon because I'm hitting a wall of sorts around 10-11 miles and struggling after that. I'll get it done though. The marathon is mine.
I was mauled by children. It felt good. Part of me felt bad for telling them that they wouldn't get to see me at the pool all summer and that they'd have someone else teaching them swimming lessons but the most part of me was joyous. I don't have to spend another summer wasting away at the pool! Hallelujah!
This past week was very good. I got to see Cornmeal, and the Bonos, and La Cabeza De Roja (comment if you know who you are - I forgot your real spanish name), and tons of others. Plus, I got to see a very cute baby girl, stay up late and chill with my siblings, play with Shadrick, SLEEP!, teach a lesson, get my haircut, fix up Babar, walk with mi madre, laugh, read the newspaper, and complain about the weather and how it was so much warmer in Idaho. Oh yeah, and I got to go to school and have a party with the first graders. That was sweet.
A milestone was also reached. For the first time in my college career, I was able to take my laundry home. All seven loads. And I got them done in one day. It was beautiful! My trunk and backseat were just piled with dirty laundry. I didn't fold it or try to put it in anything. I just threw it in the back of my car and left. It really was awesome. I wish I could do that more often. Normally I have to have everything clean and packed away nice in luggage for a plane trip. Not this time though!
It was hard to say good bye this morning but the following eased the pain on me and those that love me:
- I waved goodbye to George as she rode her bike to school and caused her to turn her head and run into a parked car in the street. It was quite the crash and I'm such a horrible sister but I sill laugh as it plays back in my mind. It was cinema-perfect, seriously. And yes, I waited until after I knew she was okay to laugh, barely.
- I knew my dad would have a hard time so I tried to leave his garage and the house a little messy so he wouldn't be too sad. I know, I'm a very considerate daughter.
- I shared my icecream cone with Shadrick. It's so hard to leave my puppy. I've decided that I don't need to get married, I just need a really cool dog. I'm kind of partial to the Rhodesian Ridgeback right now. I need a dog that can run with me.
Have a great day :)

So you want a lion dog? I looked at your link and it's also known as an African Lion Dog because they can keeps lions at bay--that's a pretty intense dog!
